Cancellation of Classes and School-Related Activities – Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 27, 2020

Dear Imagine Families:

I am writing to update you regarding cancellation of all classes and school-related activities at Imagine School at Broward beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday March 27, 2020 in accordance with the announcement made by Broward County Public Schools on Friday afternoon on March 16 to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Imagine Broward has developed a plan to ensure the continuity of education and important student services during this extended leave. We will provide you with multiple updates during the closure via the parent update, REMIND, website, ClassDojo, Edmodo, etc. The following are the key updates regarding this evolving situation that we can provide at this time:

Continuing Education – if schools continue to be closed from Monday March 27 after our Spring Break, we will roll out our distance learning plan using the resources we currently have in place and that students, teachers, and families are familiar.  Resources will include but are not limited to Freckle, MobyMax, consumable textbooks, BrainPop, StemScopes, online textbooks, videos and lessons via ClassDojo/EdModo/Zoom, projects and packets. We are committed to continuing education to our students.  A home technology access survey has been sent for families to complete via Remind.  If you have not as yet completed, please click this link: https://forms.gle/uULZSeNrnnrvHPMY7.  We will be contacting families that are without computers and/or internet.

Free/Reduced Meals – from the news update by Broward County Schools, 8 Broward County High Schools will be open to provide meals to students who qualify for Free/Reduced lunches and breakfast during this extended break. Breakfast is from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. Students require Broward County ID#s. We are waiting for more information and please refer to www.browardschools.com
Access to School – students and families should not come to the school building during the closure. We are supporting social distancing. If you require assistance, please call our main telephone number at 954-255-0020.

Spring Break – Currently, we do not expect Spring Break (scheduled for Monday March 23rd through Friday March 27th) to be impacted. However, as this is a rapidly evolving situation, that may change.

Please be assured that the health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.  While we are unaware of any presumptive positive cases of individuals connected to Imagine Broward, the campus will be thoroughly cleaned before it reopens.  Please continue to exercise proper hand washing with soap and other universal preventive actions, such as covering your cough, sneezing into your elbow or tissue (throw away tissue), avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.

As the details around COVID-19 are rapidly changing, please refer to the CDC and the local Department of Health websites for the most up-to-date information:

We understand that uncertainty causes anxiety and these are unprecedented times. We encourage you to stay informed and stay calm. We will continue to provide frequent updates as new information becomes available.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work through this process together.  As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns at debra.darling@imagineschools.org or 954-255-0020.

Sincerely,

Debra Darling
